Lessons from Social Media Management
Published on:
Social media management as well as being a creator has been one of the most rewarding yet challenging experiences of my "career". Over the past four years, I’ve learned invaluable lessons about connecting with audiences, building brands, and navigating the fast-paced digital world with trends, authenticity, and consistency. Ill share with you my secrets on how I built myself in the past and how I build people now.
The Power of Authenticity
One of the first lessons I learned was the importance of authenticity. Audiences are quick to spot insincerity, and brands, or yourself, that genuinely engage with their followers tend to build stronger, more loyal communities. Whether it’s responding to comments or sharing behind-the-scenes content, authenticity fosters trust and in turn builds revenue or whatever goal you seek.
Consistency Is Key
Maintaining a consistent posting schedule is essential for keeping an audience engaged. However, it’s not just about frequency—it’s about quality. Of all my biggest lessons consistency and balancing quality were tough to master as I posted 3-5 times a day through Instagram which gave me my initial boost personally however gave me trouble when my audience wanted less of "me" and more of "myself". I now recommend the 222 rule. The 222 rule is 2 long-form contents a month 2 short-form contents a week and 2 engagements a day. This rule can be applied to all platforms.
Data-Driven Decisions
Social media platforms offer a wealth of analytics, and leveraging this data can make all the difference. From identifying peak posting times to understanding which types of content perform best, data helps refine strategies and maximize engagement. An example would be to apply the creator tools of TikTok and Instagram to understand who and what your audience is and what they want.
Adapting to Change
Social media is constantly evolving. New platforms, algorithm updates, and emerging trends require adaptability. Staying informed and being willing to experiment with new approaches has been critical to maintaining relevance in an ever-changing landscape. The tips I gave you are key to growth but if you plan on working and being a Kardashian, understand their secrets of staying relevant including changes in social norms and standards as well as staying up to date on tech and what may work and what doesn't. Building walls around yourself and never looking over them again is key to your growing empire failing.
Looking Forward
Looking forward I don't plan on being in this field that much, I hold it near and dear to my heart as understanding everything interpersonal and its workings is the reason I had success before. However, I will keep up with software changes trends, and people as these are things I still care about. Social media management for me now will be about growing business, not people and because of that, there would have to be a special someone who I believed in that I would care to manage. As for the future, I'm going to use platforms to grow and build revenue for personal and business products and campaigns.
